Dogs and Their History

There is inconsistency in the idea that in the early days of settlement the people of this world, has a friend and companion of some sort indigenous representative of the modern dog us, and that in return for help to protect wildlife and conservation sheep and the goats, he gave part of his life, a corner of the dwelling, and grew in confidence and care for her. Probably the animal was led initially nothing more than an unusually gentle jackal, wolf, or troubled by their comrades from the marauding pack to seek refuge in a foreign country.
Be found in almost all regions of the world traces of an indigenous dog family, the only exception of the Caribbean, Madagascar, the eastern Aegean islands of Malaysia, New Zealand and the Polynesian islands, where there is no indication that any dog or wolf Fuchs is a true native animals. He remained in the ancient eastern land, and generally in the early Mongolians, wild dogs and neglected for centuries, PROWLING in packs, the lean wolf, as it begins to creep into the streets and walls of all towns in the East. This was not an attempt to attract them to improve human society and their respect. It is not until you come to the archives of the higher civilizations of Assyria and Egypt to discover that it will consider all the different varieties of canine form.
The great variety of different breeds of dogs and large differences in size, tips, and general appearance are facts which are hard to believe that they might have a common ancestor. Consider the difference between the Mastiff and the Japanese Spaniel, the Deerhound and the fashionable Pomeranian, the St. Bernard and the Black and Tan Terrier Miniature and allows the loss of their common ancestor. But the difference is greater than that between the Shire horse and pony Shetland, the Shorthorn cattle and Kerry, or the Patagonian and the Pygmy and all dog breeders know how easy it is to produce a variety in type and extent of the choice of study .
To understand this issue, you should first check the identity of the structure of the wolf and dog. This identity of structure may be better than the systems of bone or skeletons of two animals that look so close that their implementation should be recognized and studied. The spine of the dog consists of seven vertebrae in the neck, back, thirteen, seven in the loins, three sacral vertebra and twenty-twenty-two tail. In dogs and wolves, there were thirteen pairs of ribs, nine true and four false. Everyone is forty-two teeth. They both have five front and back legs, four toes, while outwardly the common wolf has so much to the emergence of a large dog-Bare Bones, a popular description is used for others.
Also necessary to distinguish their habits. Natural Voice of Wolf, a loud voice, but it is limited to barking dogs to learn. Although predator will eat vegetables and, when unhealthy eating grass. When a pack of hunting wolves will divide the parties to attend a driver for the career path to another retirement, exercise a considerable amount of strategy, a train emitted by a number of our hounds and terriers when hunting in groups.
Another important point of resemblance between the Canis lupus and Canis familiaris lies in the fact that during pregnancy in both types of sixty-three days. It is three to nine boys away a wolf, and are blind for twenty-one day. They are nursed for two months time, but at the end of this period, be able to eat half the meat to digest for spitting from their mother or their father.

The History of Wine

Wine was probably discovered by accident somewhere in the Fertile Crescent, the agriculturally generous expanse of river valleys extending from the Nile to the Persian Gulf. Although archaeologists have traced the origins of wine grapes (Vitis vinifera) back tens of thousands of years, the first evidence of wine having actually been made from grapes comes from a clay pot found in Persia (now Iran) dating from around 10,000 years B.C.
Early civilisations in the region owed their existence to the rich soils, and it is here that the wine grape first thrived. Separate waves of the great, ancient, seafaring cultures of the ancient world - the Phoenicians, then the Greeks, then the Romans - took the vine and the secrets of winemaking on their travels along the shores of the Mediterranean and Europe.
The grapevine was introduced to southern Gaul (France) long before the Romans arrived. The Romans, however, taught their sophisticated cultivation methods to the native Gauls and introduced hardier varieties to the northern regions.
During the time of the Crusades, the European Christian soldiers brought back new strains of Vitis vinifera to Europe. During this period the two most important regions of France, Bordeaux and Burgundy, further developed their reputations for producing quality wines.
In 1152 Henry II of England married Eleanor of Aquitaine (whose lands included most of southwest France), and her dowry included the vineyard areas of Bordeaux and neighbouring Gascony. The light-red wine of these regions gained favour in England, where it became known as Claret, and by 1350 the port of Bordeaux was shipping out the equivalent of a million cases of wine per year.
By the closing years of the 17th century, France was becoming recognized as being the greatest of the wine-producing nations. In 1663, Samuel Pepys wrote in his famous diary about tasting the wines of Ho Bryan (today's Haut-Brion).
However, the French Revolution in 1789 had a negative impact on wine production in Burgundy. The vineyards there were seized from the Church and the noblemen, and were given instead to the people - few of whom were given enough acreage to produce their own wine.
At the end of the 18th century, Thomas Jefferson wrote enthusiastically of the quality of French wine in correspondence to friends and encouraged the planting of European wine grapes in the New World. These early attempts at wine cultivation in the American colonies were largely unsuccessful, and the transplanting back and forth of European and native American vines inadvertently brought a destructive vine louse to Europe. The result was the phylloxera blight of the late 1800s, which destroyed most of the vineyards in Europe. This disaster, however, was not without its benefits - the devastated vineyards inspired new cultivation techniques and a redistribution across Europe of wine-making expertise.
Missionaries were responsible for the first vines planted in New Zealand, back in 1819. The Australians were quicker off the mark - the first bunches of grapes were picked in the Governor's garden in 1791, grown from vines transplanted from South Africa's Cape three years earlier.
By then, the South Africans had had a head start of almost 150 years; the Cape Province's first vineyard was planted in 1655 by its first governor, Jan van Riebeeck. Initially, the wines produced were of pretty low quality and were intended for domestic consumption. However, during the 20th century, improvements in transport techniques and a growing appetite for wine resulted in a growing demand for the wines of the New World, particularly in the UK.

Primary Colors are the Most Highly Used Colors for Football Shirts

Football shirts traditionally reflect the colors of the team that wears them. But in football the shirt is an opportunity to make your team stand out from the others, so the shirts tend to be creative expressions of a team's identity, or even their national pride. Some of the most highly used colors for football shirts are red, blue, yellow, green, and white. The way teams use these colors varies widely from stripes to blocks of color to simple highlights at the collar or on the sleeves.

Since football is a world sport, many teams design their football shirts to display the colors of their nation's flag. This tactic is really apparent during international competitions such as the FIFA World Cup. National teams find creative ways to incorporate flag colors and patterns into their football kits so that they are instantly recognizable, even from a distance. Fans seem to appreciate these nationally based designs as well, since it gives them a chance to show support for their favorite football team and for their nation all at once.

Of course, there are several football leagues that compete within separate nations as well, and the national colors wouldn't make sense for them. These teams have a little more flexibility with their use of colors, and they take full advantage of it. Football players need to be able to spot the other players on their team quickly, so bright colors that stand out against the green of the field are very popular. Bright yellows, reds, whites, and blues are highly used colors for football shirts because they catch the eye easily.

Goalies have traditionally worn a different color than the rest of the team. Originally football rules stated that a goalie must wear green, red, blue, or white, regardless of the team's colors. Today goalies are free to wear whatever color they desire, but it seems that the traditional green, red, blue, and white are still favored by many teams.

One of the more interesting uses of color in football shirts includes the use of stripes or blocks of color that alternate bright or dark colors. When you see an alternating striped shirt you expect one of the colors to be remarkably different from the other one. Football shirts break that fashion rule regularly. A football shirt may have large stripes or blocks of color and both colors will be equally bright or dark - like alternating blue and red stripes. These patterned shirts can boggle the eye at times, but they are definitely easy to spot against the green field of play.

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr

Dr. King was originally named Michael King on his birth certificate, but his father, who was also named Michael King, had a mission in mind for him. So the elder King changed both their names to Martin Luther King - and the birth documents were appropriately switched around - so his son could be called "Junior." Some people say they were both actually named Michael Luther King, so it wasn’t that much of a “stretch.”

When the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. died, his name was not held in dispute - except by white nationalist supremacists. They still are attempting to discredit him, calling him a liar, saying he was sexually ill, and that he was a communist sympathizer. However, for all intents and purposes, this cool icon of human rights turned out to be hard to track down, albeit the FBI kept close tabs on him throughout his entire adult life.

He was fortuitously surrounded by an entourage of black people most of the time, who carefully maintained his history, and several well written biographies have been published about him. Also, he was often on television, the radio, and in magazines and newspapers, espousing and encouraging the causes of civil and human rights, and world peace.

MLK was a vital figure of the modern era. His lectures and dialogues stirred the concerns and sparked the consciences of the general wide world of religious, political and philosophical ethics. The spontaneous movements and marches he led brought significant changes in the fabric of American life through his vast courage and almost selfless devotion. And his causes did not appeal only to blacks; he also was able to reach out to white people, Jewish people, poor working people, and many others.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations was constantly hot on his trail, trying to tell him to sit down and shut up. This was due to several underprivileged space cadet illegal laws that must have been one long road to nowhere, except for possibly insane asylums or concentration camps. The FBI even tried to drive him into suicide through his own wife, which fortunately they both found rather laughable. This was because both their lives were one long attempt on them, although they secretly enjoyed times of lovely peace and prosperity, managing to have a small family of four children.

True History of the People in England

True history of the people in England.

To think of England immediately I find myself bombarded with an eclectic variety of phrases, sayings and grand imagery. With thoughts of a society based upon the ethos of solidarity no matter the class. Ranging from the stereotypical gentleman with the patriarchal stiff upper lip and his loving with wife lovingly referred to as the English rose.

But where did this all begin? The Romans were in Britain from 45AD travelling to Britain bringing with them a wealth of knowledge (acquired and stolen) from the civilisation which flourished along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea; especially places such as Carthage now modern day Tunisia in North Africa. The Numerus Maurorum Aurelianorum was an African auxiliary unit which was based at Hadrian’s Wall 100-400AD.

The influx of migration thereafter brought a multiplicity of people from all over Europe and beyond including the Germanic tribes like the Saxons, Angles and Jutes from 400-600AD and the constant invasions by Vikings originating from Scandinavia settling here until 11th century. This is all before the great Battle of Hastings 1066 and the victory by William the conqueror whose troops consisted of those from all over mainland Europe

Just by looking at the above short fact based description we can see a great history of migration which gave birth to the generations to follow, and a subsequent royal family with an undeniable multiethnic history. The current monarchy are from the German duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha through the marriage of Queen Victoria to Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha from the house name of Wettin. The next two generations to follow Victoria, Edward VII, and George V reigned as members of this house. It was only due to the, high anti-German sentiment amongst the people of the empire whilst battling in World War I which forced the King to abandon all titles held under the German Crown, and to replace all titles and house names sounding German with ones which sounded more “English”. By 1917, George V issued a Royal Proclamation stating all agnatic descendants of Victoria would be members of the House of Windsor and have the surname of the same name.

This is the most obvious, overt and desperate demonstration of the need for an identity. The royal family were forced to pander to the people and satisfy their hunger; in order to solidify a nation feeding them this idea of unity could only be engineered. By 1952, Queen Elizabeth II also officially declared her family to be styled as the House and Family of Windsor. This is against the normal practice of being named through the father in this case Prince Phillip, to do so would have seen descendants named of the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg; as Prince Philip is from Greece and Denmark, in a line of the house of Oldenburg.

What Buddhists Must know

He was born in Lumbini garden, under a Sal-tree, when His mother Queen Mahamaya-devi was on her way to her parents’ home. The Queen passed away one week after His birth. As a prince, he was named Siddhartha Gautama.

He lived from 566 to 486 BC. His teachings were passed down orally and they were only committed to writing, on ola leaves, in Sri Lanka around the middle of the first century BC. The Buddha taught for a period of forty five years. They consisted of three baskets or divisions called Pitaka, which are the Discourses, the Monastic regulations, and the Abhidhamma. In all they consisted of 84 000 chapters, about 5000 of them are the Discourses (Suttas). It has been estimated by scholars that if all the main points of the three baskets were listed in book form, that set of books would be equivalent to 360 volumes of our average encyclopedia today.

If a person wishes to become a Buddhist, no initiation ceremony is needed. There is no need for baptism. If a person understands the Buddha’s teaching, is convinced that His teaching is the right Path, and does his best to follow it. Then he is a Buddhist.

The four sacred Buddhist places are: Lumbini, Bodh Gaya, Sarnath and Kusinara. Lumbini is now in Nepal, was the birthplace of Sakyamuni Buddha. Bodh Gaya, Sarnath and Kusinara are in India. Bodh Gaya was the place where Sakyamuni was enlightened, after He moved from place to place in India practicing meditation for seven years. At Deer Park, Sarnath , near Benares, He carried out His first teaching, (turning of the Dharma Wheel) to the five ascetics, with these discourses : Dhammacakkapavattana Sutta, (Four Noble Truths & The Eightfold Path); and Anattalakkhana Sutta, ( Soulless). Kusinara was the place of His final Nibbana. The Buddha personally said that Buddhists who visit these four places would travel to higher states.

He was born as an average person. This was a good sign because it means you and I can also become a Buddha. You don't need to be the most intelligent ones in the nation like the top 0.000001% of the population to be able to understand the Dharma to become a Buddha. If He was very intelligent, He would have attained Nibbana earlier, because as a child (aged 7) He sat under a rose-apple tree (Bodhi Tree, Botanical name: ficus religiosa) watching His father carrying out the opening ceremony for the annual ploughing festival, He crossed legs and went on meditation and was believed to have reached the different levels of the Jhanas. He could have continued and practised harder and successfully attain Buddhahood without spending the six years which He did later on. It was said that as the child sat under the tree, the tree-shade remained protecting him even though the position of the sun on the sky had changed. So you see, the devas protect the good people.

As a young prince, the turning point in his life was when he observed a frog being swallowed by a snake, and at that moment, a hawk swooped down and carried both the snake and the frog away.

How could an almighty creator allow his creatures to be preyed upon by others, and to live in constant fear? All creatures either hunt or are hunted by others. Herbivorous animals are also the victims of other animals, including human beings.

The Exciting Culture Of Nepal

Nepal is one of the richest countries in the world in terms of bio-diversity due to its unique geographical position and latitudinal variation. The elevation of the country ranges from 60m above sea level to the highest point on earth, Mt. Everest at 8,848 m, all within a distance of 150 km with climatic conditions ranging from subtropical to arctic. This wild variation fosters an incredible variety of ecosystems, the greatest mountain range on earth, thick tropical jungles teeming with a wealth of wildlife, thundering rivers, forested hills and frozen valleys.

Within this spectacular geography is also one of the richest cultural landscapes anywhere. The country is a potpourri of ethnic groups and sub-groups who speak over 70 languages and dialects. Nepal offers an astonishing diversity of sightseeing attractions and adventure opportunities found nowhere else on earth. And you can join in the numerous annual festivals that are celebrated throughout the year in traditional style highlighting enduring customs and beliefs.

Nepal enjoys the distinction of being the only Hindu Kingdom in the world. However, there is a harmonious blending of Hinduism and Buddhism. Nepal, a sovereign independent Kingdom, is bounded on the north by the Tibetan Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China, and on the east, south and west by India. The length of the Kingdom is 885km east-west and its breadth varies from 145-241km northsouth. The country can be divided into three main geographical regions.

The Missing Gap of History

Introduction

The first edition of this article was titled “Yoruba and Benin Kingdom The Missing Gap of History” following the Statement credited to Oba Ereduwa Omonoba Polopolo, that the Yoruba race originated from Benin Kingdom, was very rich in details and calls for re-examination by historians of high repute from all the Nigerian Universities and recognized institutions not from uneducated and bias sources of chambers or shrines of some Obas or traditional rulers as presently being envisaged or contemplated. The statement from Ooni of Ife disputing the fact of Oba of Benin was not strong enough or capable of influencing any academic exercise. The statement from the two kings and the follow up from Oba of Lagos and host of others had generated lots of discussion worldwide but some questions still remain unanswered. This has given this writer the opportunity to further ask questions hopefully it will lead to getting the solution about the source of the Yoruba and Edo with the publication of this second edition now titled “Ile Ife the final Resting place of History”.

I was often fascinated by the different versions of uncoordinated folk stories we were told about the origin of the Yoruba. As a very young Yoruba man from Abeokuta I was told Oduduwa was the first man created by God just like the Bible said Adam and Eve were the first to be created by God. The Bible says Cain the only surviving child of Adam and Eve went to another city called Nod to marry his wife. The question is who created the wife, the wife parent or the family of the in-law if any. Just like I asked in my innocent mind as a student in the primary school then who created Oduduwa and how did Oduduwa marry his wife? Where did parent of the wife of Oduduwa come from? My Teacher never told me the answer. We were even told Oduduwa was the son of one Lamurudu from Far East most likely Saudi Arabia and that some of Yoruba cousin can be found in Uganda infact they call the Yorubas in Uganda Akarabas, which is true. Most of these uncoordinated conflicting stories were very difficult to prove or be binding on history for any academic minds.

The Genesis of the Yorubas

Oduduwa had sixteen children we were told and the eldest was Orangun of Ila and the Egbas in Abeokuta were descendants of the female child of Oduduwa named Alaketu. None ever disputed the fact that Oranmiyan the last born of Oduduwa also ruled the Benin Kingdom. Why did Benin or Edos allowed the last child of Oduduwa to be made a king over them or his descendants through Eweka 1st, if there was no blue blood connection? Oba of Benin gave a detail account of fact of history that are very difficult to dispute. The Yoruba share so many things in common with the Edo’s in names and culture, which must be part of the reason why it is very difficult to dispute the version Omo noba polo polo Oba of Benin.

Again, in the Bible, Adam and Eve who were believed to be the first human creation by God never told or shown Cain the only surviving child the Garden of Eden where God created them, just like Oduduwa never shown the place and real evidence how he was created by God. The idea of a rain and dove as the method of earth creation sounds more like magic than real. Archeologically, the Yoruba race is not more than 2000 years meaning other tribes excited before the Oduduwa appearance. None availability of any other serious fact to negate this lend credibility to Oba Benin’s version in which he the Oba of Benin himself has not proved positively where the Edo’s also came from. Did the Edo’s also come from heaven? Or emerged from the Igbos that often regarded themselves as the lost tribe of Israel? Why does is necessary to bury the head of any late Oba of Benin at Ile Ife or why is it compulsory to receive the blessing of Ooni before a King or Oba is crowned in Benin. All these are missing gaps of facts and history, which the academic institutions must trash.

How's And Why's Of Bird Flu Attack

Bird flu attacked many Nations. How and why it actually happened no one knows! The speed with which it spread all over the world was a mystery and confusion confounded. With its universal ‘influence' it crippled many, without the distinction of race, color and nationality.

This bird-flu has the capacity to make such a big kill, the casualties of World War I and II put together will be a kindergarten stuff before the possible number of deaths due to bird flu.

With the drugs, antibiotics and vaccines developed so far to combat bird flu having proved ineffective, the alternative is now to search whether the nature has in store some natural herbs. If they are there, how to make their effective use is another matter for the researchers and scientists.

Can the Governments do something for the people to provide a protective cover in such emergent situations? What could do they do during Hurricane Katrina? At the time of Tsunami? That was just a small fraction of the world that was affected. What if the whole world were to be engulfed in bird flu?

Many Nations are at present attacked by bird flu but the damage is limited. As of now, the disease is not transmitted from human to human. Millions of birds and fowl are culled and destroyed in a desperate effort to contain it. But the virus of bird flu is evolving and changing. Sooner or later it will not spare the human beings, why should it? And why should the Nature come to the rescue? Have you been kind to the nature? We continue to exploit it to the hilt! Less said the better about the treatment human beings mete out to the animal kingdom!

Importance of History in our life

When the working day is over and you have spare time to sit in the living room in front of the TV with a cup of hot chocolate, we think about the events that happen during the day and the things that we didn’t manage to do. We may regret or file genuine happiness and satisfaction, but everything we do is in the past, its history. Nobody will reject the fact that history is one of the most important out of the other disciplines. To know other subjects we are supposed to learn history and use it to our profit and prosperity. History gives us the “today”, by which we mean all the things we use to make our lives easier and more comfortable. History is not only a college book or an article or a news paper published three hundred years ago, it is every single thing that we’ve experienced, our own history, united with others. The beginning of the history comes not only from the first record of human existence but from the first trace, a footprint of a first creature with abstract thinking.

We pose ourselves with questions daily. Where do we come from? What are we destined to do? What are me and the surrounding? These questions may sound very philosophical and practically useless, but still sometimes we lye sleepless in bed thinking about what awaits you next day. If to take a closer look at the events that we consider history, we may find these answers easily. There is a hypothesis about things running in the circle. Old things return to change something new. Here we even can apply a proverb “Something new is fairly forgotten old”. I think it is also the reason for us to learn history and to predict, or at least try, the future and your role in it. When do people usually start to learn history? Not out of the first history book of course. The learning process starts when you hear the world famous “once upon a time” from your granny or father. This is the history of your family, you are to know perfectly well and understand the importance of knowing it.

Who are History Makers?

A question arises: why have monarchs, generals and the members of upper class acquired celebrity in history? The answer is so simple that as they had dominance and wealth, they engaged historians to note down the history according to their will. Otherwise, the truth is that at their own they could not have contributed much to the process. There are toiling efforts of common people behind them who ended them seem great.

A critical analysis of history reveals the contributions of men who are projected as makers of history. Women are generally overlooked and they have no imposing place in history. Typically they seem to be missing from the process of history for the reason that their role and contribution are not recognized. If we go into fathom, we find that even today women engage themselves in field, cater to animals, keep themselves busy in household duties and look after children.
Since women remain involve in such occupations that’s why the male population gets the time to engross it in social, cultural, political and economic affairs. But now there is also feminist history, in which women are describing their own history. The main purpose of writing of this history is to demostrate their achievements and proves that they have equivalent share in building the history of human race.

Definitions of History

The term ‘history’ is derived from the Greek word ‘historia’ which means ‘information’ or ‘an enquiry designed to elicit truth’. It is just “man — his story” — the story of efforts to satisfy his craving for an orderly social life.
History has been defined by different scholars in different connotations. Though the words and languages used often are different in character, but, the implications are not so different fundamentally.
i. According to the earliest definition of Aristotle, “History is an account of the unchanging past.”
ii. According to Reniev, history can be termed as a study which is concerned with the human past.
iii. E. H. Carr gives a very beautiful definition of history. He says — history is an unending dialogue between the past and the present.
iv. Robinson thinks history could be used for overcoming the natural bewilderment of unfamiliar situation.

Women's History Month

March is Women’s History Month. I tried to do some reading about distinguished American Women, and found somewhat limited resources available online. It was difficult to even find out that Women’s History Month wasn’t even established until 1987 – a mere 21 years ago. So, I've gathered some Women in History links for Women's History Month. Most of the links are relatead to Women in American History - but there are also general links for Women's History timelines and History of the Women's Movement etc. - anything I felt could be related to Women's History Month, and just want to share the informational links with all who are interested.

History of Mobile Phone

Early Years

It was December, 1947, when two of the Bell Lab engineers, Douglas H. Ring and W. Rae Young, proposed the idea of hexagonal cells that can be used in the mobile phones. These two talented individuals are adored as the pioneers in the history of mobile phone.

In 1926, European civilization also witnessed a wonderful communicative innovation in the form of radio telephony that was used to communicate in first class passenger train traveling from Hamburg to Berlin.

The first fully automated mobile phone, known as MTA, was invented by Ericsson. It was released in Sweden in 1956. It weighed 40kgs.

Bell Labs instigated the trial of first commercial mobile network with AMPS during 1978. It was based in Chicago.

First Generation

Motorola DynaTAC 8000X was known as the first hand-held first generation mobile phone. It is Motorola that initially introduced portable mobile phone in the size of a briefcase. NMT, TACS, C-Netz, AMPS, and Radiocom-2000 were known to belong within first generation mobile phones.

However, the size was significantly bigger by that time as it was meant to be installed in the car at its initial stages.

Second Generation

It was beginning of 90s, the second generation mobile phones were introduced with the innovation of digital cellular phone system. Examples include GSM, iDEN, IS-136, IS-95.

The second generation mobile phones also assured with the tiny packaging instead of brick size pattern. The technological improvements had been remarkably noticed with the long-life battery and other energy efficient electronic utilities.

Third Generation

The development of third generation mobile phones took place with the introduction of several standardizations rather than singular standardized method. While shifting from second generation to third generation, a transitory level has also been observed with the introduction of CDMA2000 1X and GPRS system. The level was exclusively known as 2.5G, which is an extension of second generation network.

FACTS AND FIGURES ON MOUNT EVEREST

Mount Everest which is also termed as Sagarmatha in Nepali and Chomolungma in Tibetan is the world's highest mountain peak. It measures about 8, 848 meters above the average sea level. Mount Everest is located in the Mahalangur Himal range in Himalayas in the border of Nepal, Tibet and China.

The first height measurement for Mount Everest was published in 1856 as 8,840 meters and it was called as Peak XV at that time. Based on the suggestion by Andrew Waugh, a famous British Army Officer and Surveyor general, it was initially called as Royal Geographical Society. Tibetans were using the name Chomolungma for centuries but this has not been they could not establish a common name since both Tibet and Nepal were not open to foreigners.

Many beginners and expert climbers of different members have conquered Mount Everest by making it to the top. There have been around 4012 ascents by more than 2,700 climbers around the globe so far. Initially Kengchenjunga or Mount K2 was considered as highest peak in the Globe but later James Nicholson a famous Mountaineer found that it was Mount Everest then called Peak XV was the highest peak with a height of 8,840 meters.

The Naming of Mount Everest was after George Everest, the predecessor of Waugh as the Surveyor General in India. While the Tibetan name Chomolungma which actually has a meaning "Saint Mother" was commonly used in Tibet, Zhumulangma Feng was the Chinese name which means earth mother. Sagarmatha was the official name given by government of Nepal to Mount Everest during the 1960.

During the Great Trigonometric survey conducted during 1856, Mount Everest was measured and officially announced as 8,840 meters high. The recent measurement was made in October 2005 by The State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping of PRC and they stated the height as 8,844 meters. There will be some variations slightly due to the thickness of ice on the peaks. During the Indian Survey carried out in 1955, the height was published as 8, 848 meters.

The tectonic plate movement is adding to height of Mount Everest and the summit is moving in North East direction. Using Aerial photography, a detailed topographical map of Mount Everest has been made during 1980. Mount Everest is the highest peak above sea level but Mount Kea which is located in Hawaii measures 10,200m from its based which is in middle of ocean, but the height above sea level is only 4,205 meters.

There are 2 climbing routes for Mount Everest one through South East ride originating from Nepal and other way is through North East Ridge which originates from Tibet. The way through Nepal is quite easy to follow and used frequently compared to North East Ridge. Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary together used the South East Ridge in the year 1953, to climb to the summit.

The History of Tetris Video Games

Tetris is a legendary video game that uses an extremely simple concept and yet provides hours upon hours of entertainment. This game has been released on nearly every video game console and arcade system, as well as many other electronic devices like phones and calculators. The name "Tetris" is derived from the Greek numerical prefix "Tetra-," meaning "of four" or "having four." This is because all of the pieces used in Tetris are made up of four segments arranged in different shapes.

The Beginning

The Tetris legend began on June 6, 1984. A man by the name of Alexey Pajitnov created the game of Tetris on an Elektronika 60 (an old computer made by the Soviet Union). The game begins to grow in popularity and by July of 1986 it is programmed for the Apple II and Commodore 64. Soon, however, we will see that Tetris is involved in heavy legal battles.

A man by the name of Robert Stein attempts to get Pajitnov to sign a contract, however this is a failure. He then proceeds to formulate a plan to steal the game of Tetris, and claim it was invented by Hungarian programmers. Legal battles from this point continue to ensue as the IBM PC version of the game is released in the United States.

Arrival in United States

The IBM PC version of Tetris was released in the United States in 1986. The game was an explosion of success, making places of top magazines being described as simple yet extremely addictive. In 1987 Andromeda, a British software company whose president was Robert Stein, managed to secure a copyright license for the IBM PC version of the game as well as any other computer system.

Nintendo's Story

Nintendo released Tetris for their NES system and their hand-held Game Boy system. Nintendo's Game Boy Tetris became arguably the most well-known version of Tetris, selling over 33 million copies. Lawsuits between Nintendo and another company would carry on until 1993.

As we move along with the evolution of Nintendo systems, Tetris Attack for the Super Nintendo is a highly rated game. And let us not forget about Tetris 64, also one of the best versions. Many other variations of the game of Tetris were developed by Nintendo for various systems as well.
